How wondrous is that breath that roused humanity to life!
The closing concert of our third season celebrates the 1,000th anniversary of the invention of modern music staff notation by Guido d’Arezzo in 1025, and thus features music from the 12th century to the present. Featuring works by (in chronological order) Hildegard von Bingen, Guillaume de Machaut, Carlo Gesualdo, J.S. Bach, Anton Bruckner, Andrew Balfour, Kenneth Lampl, and Shireen Abu-Khader, plus the first and second prize winners of our annual composition competition, and a new commission from J.D. Daniel.
